Program Stage 03 · Product Brief

The Private-Label Ingredient Brief

The Ingredient Brief is the structured document that turns a qualified powder or syrup project into something a technical team can evaluate. It is issued after the Fit Assessment and a mutual NDA, not before.

What It Is

One document that connects commercial intent to technical review

The Ingredient Brief records the commercial and technical detail that sampling and production review depend on. It covers the beverage application, formula starting point, preparation standard, packaging direction, forecast and decision owners.

It sits at stage three of the Branch-Ready Ingredient Program. Commercial fit is confirmed first, through the Fit Assessment. A mutual NDA follows, so confidential detail is protected before anyone discloses it. Only then is the brief issued.

This ordering protects both sides. Your team does not prepare technical detail for a project without a commercial basis. Our side does not review confidential material until an NDA is in place.

Scope

What the Ingredient Brief covers

Each section exists to answer a question the technical review will ask. A complete brief shortens sampling rounds because acceptance criteria and decision owners are defined before the first sample is prepared.

Sections of the Ingredient Brief
Brief section What it records
Fit Assessment reference The reference issued at qualification, so commercial and technical records stay connected through the project.
Intended beverage application The finished product your branch teams will prepare from the powder or syrup ingredient.
Formula status Whether the project starts from an existing formula, a benchmark product to match, or a new concept.
Serving size and preparation Dose per serving, preparation method and the equipment available at branch level.
Sensory and performance criteria Taste, aroma, color, solubility or pour behavior, and the acceptance criteria samples are scored against.
Packaging and label status Intended pack format, label ownership and the current status of artwork and label content.
Forecast and milestones First-run expectations, the recurring forecast and the launch milestones the supply plan must meet.
Documentation needs The specification, regulatory and delivery documents your review and receiving teams require.
Decision owners Who approves samples, packaging and commercial terms, so evaluation rounds do not stall.

Confidentiality

Formulas never travel through this website

This public page explains the brief. It does not collect it. There is no upload facility here, and no formula field appears in any public form on this site.

On the public website

  • Explanation of the brief and its sections
  • Commercial qualification through the Fit Assessment
  • No formula fields, no file uploads

After qualification and NDA

  • Brief template issued to named contacts
  • Secure submission link for the completed brief
  • Confidential files handled outside ordinary email

During technical review

  • Brief reviewed against production feasibility
  • Open questions returned before sampling
  • Records kept within the controlled project file

Qualified projects receive a secure submission link for the completed brief and any supporting files. Formula files never travel through the public website, ordinary email or general analytics. If you hold confidential material now, keep it until the secure route is issued.

Preparation

Prepare the inputs before sampling starts

Most sampling delays trace back to inputs that were never agreed internally. Before the brief is issued, your team can already settle:

  • The beverage application the ingredient must serve, agreed across operations and marketing
  • The formula starting point: existing formula, benchmark to match, or new concept
  • The current serving size, dose and preparation method at your branches
  • The sensory and performance criteria samples will be scored against, and who scores them
  • Packaging direction and who owns the label content
  • A forecast your finance owner has reviewed
  • The named owners for sample, packaging and commercial approval

Companion resource

The Private-Label Ingredient Brief Checklist walks through each of these inputs in worksheet form. Use it to run the internal alignment before your brief is issued.

Where the brief leads

A reviewed brief moves the project into sample and specification work. Samples are then evaluated against the criteria the brief defined, and each round is a documented decision gate.

Next Step

The brief starts with qualification

The Ingredient Brief is issued after the Fit Assessment confirms commercial fit and a mutual NDA is in place. Submit the Fit Assessment first; qualified projects then receive the brief template and the secure submission route.
